Annonaceae

Annonaceae belongs to the order Magnoliales. It is also known as Custard apple family.

The Annonaceae is a large family of flowering plants, primarily found in tropical and subtropical regions around the world. Commonly known as the custard apple or soursop family, its members are mostly trees, shrubs, or lianas with simple, aromatic leaves and often large, fragrant flowers. Many species produce distinctive, fleshy fruits that are of local and global importance.

Ecologically, Annonaceae species provide habitat and food for tropical fauna, especially fruit-eating animals and insect pollinators. Economically, the family includes several cultivated fruit crops. A prominent example is the soursop (Annona muricata), grown for its soft, sweet-tart fruit used in beverages, desserts, and traditional medicine in many tropical countries.
