Dipsacales

Dipsacales is an order of flowering plants, mostly herbaceous, but also including some shrubs and small trees. Members of this order are found globally, but are particularly diverse in temperate regions of the Northern Hemisphere. They are characterized by opposite leaves and often showy inflorescences.

Ecologically, Dipsacales species contribute to various habitats, from forests to meadows. Many are important for pollinators due to their nectar-rich flowers. The order includes well-known ornamental plants like honeysuckles and viburnums. While not a major staple crop, some species, such as elderberries (Sambucus species), are commercially harvested for their fruit, used in food products and beverages.
